Creole Skillet Restaurant, The
Location & Contact:
The Creole Skillet is located in the Arts/Warehouse District of historic New Orleans. The building it occupies is over 200 years old and was originally the site of a cotton warehouse, receiving goods for the residents and merchants of the French Quarter from ships on the mighty Mississippi River. Looking through the large windows today, you can still catch a glimpse of a ship sailing on that same river.
The Creole Skillet housed the offices of the 1984 World's Fair. Later on, it became True Brew Coffee House, successfully presenting live theater and stand-up comedy for many years.
Today, The Creole Skillet is a full service restaurant serving tourist and convention visitors as well as our beloved local diners. The walls, floor and even the bathrooms are adorned with the creative and talented works of Mexican born local artist, Frederico Salas. The bead art is by local artist Lee Parfait.
The Warehouse/Arts District is now a growing residential community living side-by-side with upscale art galleries, hotels, office buildings and world class tourist destinations. We are located within walking distance of the Riverwalk, Morial Convention Center, World War II Museum, Children's Museum, Aquarium of the Americas, Harrah's Casino and the Insectarium. The Creole Skillet is also honored to be in this neighborhood of many of the finest restaurants in New Orleans.
